As a man thinketh

Thought and Character

"The Aphorism,"As a man thinketh in his heart so is he," not only embrace the whole of a man's being, but is so comprehensive as to reach out to every conditionand circumstance of his life. A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts."

In other simpler terms, "You are, what you think you are"
Act is the blossom fo thoughts and joy and sufferings are its fruits ; thus does a man garner in the sweet and bitter fruitage of his own husbandry.

Thought in the mind hath made us. what we are
by thought in was wrought and built . if a man's minds hath evil thoughts , pain comes on him as comes.

Man is made or unmade by himself , in the armory of thoughts he forges the weapons by which he destroys himself; he also fashions the tools with which he builds for himself heavenly mansions of joy and strength and peace.

Man is always the master , even in his weakest and most abandoned state; but in weakness and degradation he is the foolish master who misgoverns his household. when he begins to reflect up his condition, and to search diligently for the law upon which his being is established, he then becomes the wise master, directing his energies with intelligence , and fashioning his thoughts to fruitful issues.

A man only begins to be a man when he cease to whine and revile , and commences to search for the hidden justice which regulates his life . and he adapts his mind to that regulating factor , he cease to accuse others as the cause of his conditon.

And Finally...

its been 3 days back home..my mind is still filled with plans and thoughts, i've been talking to many people and seeking some advice from them in order to steer my way at this long journey of life. "without a degree, you 'd wouldnt go far... you'll never go any higher and your chance for promotion in your career is limited to a certain level" and so this is what they said. I'm currently still looking out for jobs that suits me and in which i could learn new things. Transportation is an issue, i've realised that the days have already changed, you cant go anyway where without a car of your own or to get someone to drive you somewhere. The Malaysian Public transport is very inefficient, they are always late and costly, as jasmine has once said "you'll have to pray for the Bus to arrive all the time..." over here thats very true. Taxis are like sharks in shallow waters, preying for tourist and people who are in a rush to get somewhere, they always rip people off. Bahh.... whatever!! Heaven and hell is always in your mind, you create your own hell and heaven, its the way that you bring yourself about within your mind. we'll never be content/sastified until we learned to let go of our attachment. The Three poison that we'll need to learn to get rid of 1:GREED 2:ANGER 3:IGNORANCE

16 THINGS THAT TOOK SOMEONE 40 YEARS TO LEARN:

1. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

2. If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved, and never will achieve, its full potential, that word would be "meetings."

3. There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

4. People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them.

5. You should not confuse your career with your life

6. Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.

7. Never lick a steak knife.

8. The most destructive force in the universe is gossip.

9. You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight savings time.

10. You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests that you think she's pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that very moment.

11. There comes a time when you should stop expecting other people to make a big deal about your birthday. That time is age eleven.

12. The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above average drivers.

13. A person, who is nice to you, but rude to a waiter, is not a nice person. (This is very important. Pay attention. It never fails.)

14. Your friends love you anyway.

15. Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone amateur built theArk.A large group of professionals built the Titanic.

16. Thought for the day: Men are like fine wine. They start out as grapes, and it's up to the women to stomp the crap out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.

*****************

FINAL THOUGHT FOR THE DAY There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra than on Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2030, there should be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge erections but no idea what to with them.

Post?

I came across this article when i was searching for the term unconditional love

and here is a quote (it was quoted from somewhere else) from a forum that i'd like to share:

QUOTE
The First Miracle of Mindfulness is to be present and able to touch deeply the blue sky, the flower, and the smile of our child (or lover!)

The Second Miracle of Mindfulness is to make the other present, also. In the Vietnamise poem Tale of Kieu, Kieu returns to the apartment of her beloved, Kim Trong, and finds him asleep at his desk. Kim hears Kieu's footsteps, but not quite awake he asks "Are you really there, or am I dreaming?" Kieu replies, "Now we have the opportunity to see each other clearly. But if we do not live deeply in this moment, it will only be a dream." You and your loved on are here together. You have the chance to see each other deeply. But if you are not fully present, everything will be like a dream.

The Third Miracle of Mindfulness is to nourish the object of your attention. When was the last time you looked into the eyes of your beloved and asked, "Who are you, my darling?" Don't be satisfied by a superficial answer. Ask again, "Who are you who has taken my suffering as your suffering, my happiness as your happiness, my life and death as your life and death?" Ask with your whole being. If you do not give attention to the one you love, it is a kind of killing. When you are in the car together, if you are lost in your thoughts, assuming you already know everything about her, she will slowly die. But with mindfulness, your attention will water the wilting flower. If you do not practice appropriate attention, how can you say you love her?

The Fourth Miracle of Mindfulness is to relieve the other's suffering. "I know you are suffering, that is why I am here for you." If you are not truly present, if you are thinking about other things, the miracle of relieveing suffering cannot be realized. Etc.

Neither of us can see

The Warmth

I'd like to close my eyes and go numb
But there's a cold wind coming from
The top of the highest high-rise today
It's not a breeze cause' it blows hard
Yes, and it wants me to discard the humanity I know
Watch the warmth blow away

Do you think I should adhere to that pressing new frontier?
And leave in my wake a trail of fear?
Or should I hold my head up high
And throw a wrench and spokes by
Leaving the air behind me clear?

Don't let the world bring you down
Not everyone here is that fucked up and cold
Remember why you came
And while you're alive
Experience the warmth before you grow old.

Gadgets that i Lust for....

The Logitech Z-5500 Digital speaker system is a 5.1-channel behemoth that boasts a wealth of connectivity options and multi-channel effects. It's a perfect match for most game consoles, home theaters, and PCs—but its bombastic low end can become overbearing with certain types of source material.
Fearsome volume levels. Plugs directly into almost any analog or digital source. Deep bass. Outstanding tethered control pod and wireless remote.

We have so much "Wants" and we are never content with what we have. Once we obtained something that we want, we will then move on to the next "want" and try to acheive it. The "wants" that im refering to, is so called happiness....

"We seek for happiness in so many areas and in so many ways, always seeking in the wrong place. Eventually we realise that not finding happiness in these places doesn't mean there is something wrong with us. It doesn't mean we are incompetent or hopeless. Insight will show us that there is no way anyone can find happiness in the place we were looking. The mind realises that the world can only be dukkha (suffering). The wise person, instead of being distressed by that suffering and wallowing in it, contemplates what The Lord Buddha says about suffering, the Four Noble Truths. That means, they seek to understand this whole process of suffering."(Ajahn Brahmavamso)

We are always looking for happiness and most of the time... that happiness is just momentarily, its not real happiness. "Everything is impermenant" what is the real defination of Happiness?? thats another long argument/discussion for me to write.

Saturday is just another day to pass... with a blink of an eye im another day older than yesterday. Great.... we are all getting older day by day. When will we become younger by a day then?? hahaha..... Dont think that day will come. Am i complaining too much? ohh well... "life's a farker" get use to it.... we will arm ourselves with knowledge and try to stay in the rat race. Nothing is free now adays, everything has a price...... even love doesnt come cheap. Is money everything?? Money to me is just a means/tool for our survival something that we use to exchange for good and services(Econ101) and we must have it (Duhh).. Alrite Alrite........ cut the crap and im going to bed now...... hehehe its 3 am now.

ONLY ONE

she's got a pretty smile
it covers up the poison that she hides
she walks around in circles in my head
waiting for a chance to break me
a chance to take me down
now I see the burden you gave me
is too much to carry
too much to bury inside

I guess you're the only one
that nobody changes
I guess you're the only one
left standing when everything else goes down
you're still the only one
yeah you're still the only one

it's all shallow and all so appealing now
I'm up to my ankles and I'm drowning anyway in a sea of
sarcastic faces
familiar places
everything looks quite the same here it's
all confusingly amusing
bitter and tainted
the picture you painted to me

I guess you're the only one
that nobody changes
guess you're the only one
left standing when everything else goes down
you're still the only one
who will never change faces
I guess you're the only one
left standing when everything else goes down

just cause it's all in your head
doesn't mean it has to be in mine
don't believe what you said
still can't get it out of my mind
I've tried to find myself an approval
I've already been there
already done that it
got me nowhere it
brought me nothing but a good place to hide in
no one to confide in now

I guess you're the only one
that nobody changes
I guess you're the only one
that will never change faces
I guess you're the only one

Do You hear me?

Are you looking down on me right now?
I feel your presence beem down
Watching you get ill, it changed our lives
Your hand went limp and we cried
I didn't realize you had to go
Emotionless overflow
I wish I had the chance to tell you I'm so sorry

Do you hear me pray to you?
I'm thinking of you
Do you hear me pray to you?
I'm thinking of you

I know that you are in a better place
Somewhere that you can escape
I'm looking for a sign from up above
That you still care and have love
I was really young and didn't know
The pain took over your soul
I wish I had the chance to tell you, I'm so sorry

Do you hear me pray to you?
I'm thinking of you
Do you hear me pray to you?
I'm thinking of you

Work harder
For nothing
To find you
I'm sorry
Work harder
For nothing at all
To find you
You're nowhere

unstable

I wanted to know who you really are
I needed the chance to stitch up my scars
I'm closer to you then I was in the start
Come dive right in and tear me apart

I'm trapped and we can't get along
I thought that I was strong
We are so unstable
In bed I'm strung out from your touch
But I won't give you up
We are so unstable

I wanted to learn about the dark side of you
You bring me down like a bottle of pills
I hate the way that you make me feel
I keep coming back I never get killed

there is a stone in my heart

i drown in my own sorrows. drowning within my own fake smile.... no one can save me but myself.
im down, fallen into the valley of the shadow of death...... i will have to take the hard long road out of hell. a mask that i put on to show that im okay, a smiles that we put on to makes us feel better...

i feel like there is a stone in my heart..... it feels so heavy.

is it a crime?

is it a crime that i still want you, and want you to want me too. Its been a long time since we've seen each other, i know your confused, i know that you dont know what it is.
it hurts to hear you say that you, love me no more; but i still want you....

never feels good as the first time, never babeh..... good times comes and they go. we always lie in the past, so we rely on the past special moments that last....

what could equal the bliss, the thrill of the first kiss........??

Jasmine,
i wont pretend that i dont love you.....
i still really really love you....

No matter what you say ....i'll hang on

In Heaven's name why are you walking away?
Hang on to your love.
In Heaven's name why do you play these games?
Hang on to your love.

Take time if you're down on luck.
It's so easy to walk out on love.
Take you time if the going gets tough.
It's so precious.

So if you want it to get stronger you'd better not let go.
You've got to hold on longer if you want you love to grow.
Got to stick together, hand in glove.
Hold on tight, don't fight.
Hang on to your love.

In Heaven's name why are you walking away?
Hang on to your love.
In Heaven's name why do you play these games?
Hang on to your love.

Be brave when the journey is rough,
it's not easy when you're in love.
Don't be ashamed when the going gets tough
it's not easy,
don't give up.

If want it to get stronger you'd better not let go.
You got to hold on longer if you want you love to grow.
Got to stick together, hand in glove.
Hold on tight, don't fight.
Hang on to your love.

BUt that wasnt the case.... this kuai lou started saying stuff and touching the girls, they were shit scared. haha it was funny to see. the everyone on the other table came to us and this kuai lou followed to our table saying "are you scared of me?" and Yang replied saying "Why, dont you just go away??" this kuai lous started to move towards and say " WHAT DID YOU SAY??" by this time, i took one of the cue behind me.........thinking if this guy(kuai lou) threw the 1st punch he's gonna have this CUE in his head. But luckily........... he shaked yangs hand and mumble some stuff and went on. he was still harassing the girls and wouldnt want to leave, he was accompanied by one of his friend, i stood up and wanting to say a few words of my own (ahemmmm 18SX) before i could do that, his friend took him away!! Pheww... i tot i was getting some action that night. its been a long time since the last "gang fight" i've got myself into. haha...

guide 4 memory tricks

Four Memory Tricks

Nothing helps you get ahead quicker than a good memory. Whether you're trying to remember the name of the guy you just met, a state capital, or complex sets of business data, these simple tricks can help you improve your memory skills.

1. Start by chunking. According to psychologists, it's especially hard to make your brain recall long lists of separate pieces of information. To make it easier to remember a long list of almost anything, break the list into small and manageable groups, or "chunks."

For example, you might find it hard to remember all of the original 13 British colonies in the United States. But if you break them into small groups based on common traits, such as the region each colony belongs in, it's much easier. First, just concentrate on learning which colonies belong in which region. When you know each region, you know the whole set of 13.

Mid-Atlantic

  1. Delaware
  2. New York
  3. New Jersey
  4. Pennsylvania

Southern

  1. Maryland
  2. Virginia
  3. North Carolina
  4. South Carolina
  5. Georgia

New England

  1. Connecticut
  2. Rhode Island
  3. Massachusetts
  4. New Hampshire

2. Use mnemonic devices. These are memory improvement techniques, and are sometimes quite elaborate. One common device uses words or abbreviations to compress lists of information into shorter bits that are easier to remember. Here are some common examples:

Names of the Great Lakes

H-O-M-E-S; Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, Superior

Colors of the spectrum

R-o-y G. B-i-v; Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet

Order of operations in mathematics

Please Explain My Dull, Awful Subjects; Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication/Division, Addition/Subtraction

Planets in the solar system

Many Vocal Enemies Make Jokes Squealing Under Nervous Pressure; Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto

Biology taxonomy

Kings Play Chess On Funny Green Squares; Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species

Musical scale

Every Good Boy Does Fine; E, G, B, D, F

3. Link information to visual cues. Often it's easier to remember a place or an image and its characteristics, than it is to recall a set of unfamiliar pieces of information. To memorize the information, you can try taking an item from the list and associating it in your mind with a picture or place that you know well.

For example, let's say you need to memorize the presidents of the United States since World War II. You could associate each of the presidents with a place you know well, such as your front porch:

Eisenhower

Sitting on the steps

Kennedy

Knocking at the front door

Johnson

Swinging on a porch swing

Nixon

Standing at the mailbox

Ford

Ringing the doorbell

Carter

Sitting in a wicker chair

Reagan

Standing under the porch light

Bush (1st)

Standing on the right

Clinton

Sitting at a table

Bush (2nd)

Standing on the left

To reinforce this, you could draw a sketch of your porch, and note on it the location of each president. This technique is so powerful that you might find yourself thinking of the presidents the next time you go to your porch.

4. Read with a purpose. Many psychologists think that the best way to remember what you read is to follow the PQ4R method. PQ4R is a mnemonic device for Preview, Question, and four R's: Read, Reflect, Recite, Review.

If you are reading a chapter in your biology book, for example, you should start by skimming the whole chapter for an overview. Then create some questions to concentrate on while you study, such as "How does photosynthesis work?" Then read the chapter.

After you've finished, reflect--think about how the chapter has answered your questions. Recite the answers back to yourself, explaining the information in your own words. Finally, go back through the book, skimming again for the main points.

Sound like a lot of work? It may take longer than a quick skim, but it's also a great way to make sure you retain what you are reading, rather than just sitting in front of the book and turning pages.
